Lesson Plan to use with this Worksheet
Use this worksheet to help students identify
some of the factors when looking at a car loan.
Purchasing a car may seem out of reach because
cars are expensive items. One way to help individuals afford
a car is through financing, and taking a car loan. This
allows you to pay for a car by making smaller payments over a
period of time, rather than in one single payment.
When financing there are several factors to
understand. This includes the current car price or cash
price, per month charges, down payment, and number of months the
car will be financed.
Financing is not free, since you will need to
pay a financing charge, or interest on the loan for the car.
Vocabulary to understand: Down Payment,
Cash Price, Monthly Payment, Finance Charges. |

WORKSHEET Instructions
The top section of this worksheet has several
"advertisements" for cars available for sale. Information about
the cars includes the price, and financing information (per month
charge, down payment, and number of months necessary to pay the
loan). The student is to answer the random word
problem questions related to the cars for sale. You may
choose a standard worksheet or customize the worksheet to your
teaching needs.
To customize the worksheet, you have several
selections. Choose number of questions. Single
question worksheets make for good reviews or introductions.
Two different worksheet formats are available, single line format or box format. Also, you may
customize this worksheet with the names of your students, or use
random names, or mix student names with random names.
