When we estimate a difference, we find an answer for a subtraction problem that is close to but not exact.

Estimating means that we find an answer that makes sense, but doesn’t involve exact computation.

Difference is a key word that means subtraction.

When we estimate a difference problem, we estimate a subtraction problem. We can estimate differences using different values. We can also estimate differences in problems that use money amounts.
