Introduce your students to the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, and dollar.  Use the following printable pages for early money identification.  Students may use the sheets for coloring money including coins and bills, or as a money reference.  Large money printouts.

Penny Printable Page

Students should color the penny brown.

The penny is worth 1 cent (1/100 of a dollar).  The penny has the profile of Abraham Lincoln, who was the16th President of the United States.  The back has a picture of the Lincoln memorial.  Pennies contain 97% zinc and 3% copper.

 

Nickel Printable Page

Color the nickel, and other coins silver.

The nickel is worth 5 cents (1/20th of a dollar).  The nickel has the profile of Thomas Jefferson, who was the third President of the United States.  The back of the nickel has a picture of Monticello, Jefferson's house near Charlottesville, Virginia.

 

Dime Printable Page

The dime is worth 10 cents.  It pictures Franklin Roosevelt.  The back of the dime has a picture of a torch, oak branch, and olive branch.

 

Quarter Printable Page

The quarter is worth 25 cents.  George Washington is pictured on the front  of the quarter.  The back has an eagle.

 

Dollar Printable Page

Color the dollar bill green.

The front of the dollar bill has a picture of George Washington.  The back includes the word "ONE", a pyramid, and a bald eagle.
