WHAT IS A CAREER?

 

A lesson on what is a career. This lesson is intended to help students prepare for their future and to develop the life skills they will need to be successful in all their endeavors.

Objectives:

Upon completion of this section, participants will be able to:

  • Explain what a career is as opposed to a job.
  • List examples of careers and the primary duties required.
  • Examine personal likes and dislikes.

Suggested/Recommended Grades:

9th-12th grade, Secondary Education, High School and Special Education

Subjects: Career Education, Preparation, and Exploration

Lesson Instruction and Discussion

These lessons are designed for interactive training.  Everyone is encouraged to participate.  You can start with a small discussion and work into the questions.  Sometimes students will need to use the internet to research some information.  However, most information could be obtained through interviewing acquaintances.

 

Print out copies of the lesson for students to complete.
